SUBJ:              Contract Negotiations

Your negotiating committee met with the Company on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 and received their final offer at 8:06 p.m.  We unanimously recommend that you reject this contract and vote to strike.  Why?  Just look below at the Credit Union Proposals!

They propose no General Wage Increases, instead offered the following performance merit based increase:

Article 20, Section 1:  During the term of this agreement, all hourly employees will receive an annual wage increase of 2% to 6% of their current hourly rate, depending on performance, in the form of a lump sum or hourly wage increase.

They propose to freeze the IAM Pension for those vested (5 yrs) as of 12-31-11 and replace it with their 401K plan:

Article 21, Section 6:  IAM National Pension Fund shall be provided for the current represented employees to be paid by the Credit Union at eighty-five (85¢) cents per hour until December 31, 2011. Effective January 1, 2012, Eligible employees will participate in the LGE Community Credit Union 401k Plan as follows. The Credit Union will make a minimum contribution of 5 % of compensation as defined by the Plan each year. In addition, employees will receive matching contributions in accordance with the Plan, subject to changes made for other participants in accordance with the Plan.    Employees may make additional voluntary non-matching contributions up to the maximum in accordance with the Plan and IRS regulations.

There was no offer of language on the important issue of Transfer:

Article 28, Section 2:  Whenever a vacancy occurs in an existing classification, the Credit Union may transfer an employee to fill the vacancy in the existing classification.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET OUT AND CAST YOUR VOTE BASED ON YOUR CONVICTION, NOT FEAR!  A UNION IS ONLY AS STRONG AS ITS MEMBERS!  THE VOTE WILL BE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2011, 7AM – 7PM AT THE UNION HALL.  Check on www.local709.org for info or call 770-919-9709 for results on Friday.  YOU HAVE OUR COMPLETE SUPPORT!

Fraternally,

M. Denise Rakestraw, President
